Tokyo Police Club Cover Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone' -- Song Premiere

If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone.' Upon its release in 2004 -- the tumultuous year that saw the reelection of George W. Bush -- Clarkson's tuneful kiss-off appealed to liberals and conservatives alike, signaling a ceasefire in the nation's then-raging culture war.
As this new cover version by Tokyo Police Club suggests, it went over well in Canada, too.

Earlier this week, the Ontario indie-rock foursome embarked on a musical version of 'I Love the '00s,' launching a project whereby they'll record and release versions of 10 aughties hits in as many days. The group is working its way through the decade chronologically, and the Clarkson smash follows tunes by Moby, Jimmy Eat World and the Strokes."
"We were discussing the big hits of 2004, and 'Since U Been Gone' came up," says keyboardist Graham Wright, explaining why this particular tune was a no-brainer. "Once it was mentioned, that was it. It's the musical equivalent of a poster with puppies and kittens playing in a field. Who doesn't love that?"
