Stuart Cable Charity Tribute Single to Be Released

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable -- who was found dead at home in South Wales on June 7 -- is to have a download-only charity single released in his honour on July 25.The track 'Former Mining Town' is by Cable's most recent band, Killing for Company, and all proceeds from the track will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust and Tŷ Hafan, the family hospice for young lives.
Killing for Company members dedicate the single to Cable, commenting in the press statement, "To think Stu won't be joining us on stage anymore is a hard thought to face -- and although his passing is tragic -- we hope to draw some positive from this difficult time. As a band, we are honoured and privileged to have shared the experiences we've had with Stu."
They added, "He was hugely proud of the album and this track in particular...Not only have we lost a rock legend but also a best friend and the heart of our band."
Cable, whose cause of death is yet to be determined, regularly raised money for charities including Macmillan Cancer and NetAid. He was also part of a Testicular Cancer Awareness campaign in 2002. Just a few days before he died, Cable also took part in the Welsh Cycle Challenge for PACT ' Parents & Abducted Children Together, a 50-mile course.
