Sir Paul McCartney Writing Music for Ballet

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed he is to compose the music for a ballet. The former Beatle, who has tentatively commenced writing told The Sun, "I'm interested in doing things I haven't done before. That offer came up and I love writing music. The two went together and I said, `Yeah.' I accept things before I know what I'm doing."

It's not the first foray into classical music Sir Paul has made. In 1991 saw the Liverpudlian produce his first orchestral score for 'Liverpool Oratorio' while his most recent work, 'Ecce Cor Meum,' or 'Behold My Heart,' was completed in 2006.

When asked for more details on the project Sir Paul admitted, "I don't really know that much about it yet. I'm just writing music for it, but it's a switch!"

Sir Paul also spoke of his recent visit to the White house where he was honoured with America's Gershwin Prize, awarded for a lifetime contribution to popular music.

By all accounts a very special night, Sir Paul performed 'Michelle' with a nod to the First Lady. The knight-of-the-realm said, "I start singing Michelle, and he (Barack Obama) starts singing it to her. I couldn't believe it, he's singing the French bits, he's leaning over to his kids and going, 'This is about mum!'"

However the highlight of the night for the 68-year-old was playing 'Ebony and Ivory' with Stevie Wonder live for the first time.

Describing the experience an obviously moved Sir Paul said, "It brought back memories of when I wrote it, and when we recorded it. There was no chance of having a black president. I mean, it was just the remotest thing ever, so to be there, singing it with Stevie, and two yards away from the black president, his wife and kids, it was very emotional actually. So yeah, I was humbled and grateful."

Hahahahaha! Lady Gaga! Yes, music for today - but will it be around in 20 years, let alone 40 or 50? My gosh, the Beatles were a great group that grew from bebop fifties and rhythm and blues to do just amazing work. Having lived through it all (including all the other groups that were part of it) I have to say this: Don't be insulting to people who have accomplished more than you ever will, and are still accomplishing things. Go out and live and write and play music and become a legend yourself instead of criticizing one. Who knows where you can go if you just work at something instead of spending your time criticizing those who do?

Dudes and dudesses he spent time in a Japanese jail...he's a pothead songwriter. Now he's being portrayed as a "composer" give me a break. He wrote tiny little sound alike songs 45 years ago. He's only relevant to dinosaur watchers. Now Lady Gaga that's music as is Adam Lambert...quality sounds. So raise the bar and join the "Dump the Old Fart McCartney" club and let's get relevant today not "yesterday".

Your comments about Paul make me laugh!!! Everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but how could you possibly compare Lady ga ga and Adam Lambert's music to that of the Beatles. You may want to get your ears and head checked !!!!!!

Ahh yes, Mr Bad, I remember my first beer. The phenom known as Gaga is truly a crafty entertainer. Lambert has a great voice. These are just two examples of folks who aspire to exhibit their art. I wish them fulfilling careers. I am sure they should have no problem sustaining for 50 years...given the fact they TRULY have talent.

OK, first off, where in this article does he EVER say ANYTHING about G.W. Bush!? All he was saying is how far we as humanity have come in the past 30-something years?

This article is supposed to be about Sir Paul writing for a ballet, which I think is awesome and would definitely enjoy that.
Shame on AOL for again, turning to politics to get a rise out of people. And SHAME ON YOU ignorant hateful people who can't say anything nice. Go find someone to hug and enjoy your life instead of being spiteful on something as useless as an AOL comment board.

Mike...you're an idiot. (My apologies to all the folks that put real posts here but I couldn't contain myself)
I am not a Paul fan! Not an Obama fan! But I am a Beatles fan and don't forget Paul, whether you wrote it. Whether John or George (the folks with the real talent) wrote it. Or hell, even if Ringo wrote it...you were a "group". It wasn't Paul McCartney and the Beatles.
Now that I have gone completely off topic I must say thanks. I feel much better. I have held back for so long in publicly saying how I feel).....carry on!

Paul McCartney is Liverpool TRASH. How dare he comes to my country and slam a former president. When people have thier own garbage they dare not dig other's. Tell us where you you went 'missing' in Japan for 9 days. Also, bear in mind what happened to the Dixie Chicks by opening their political mouths. To be very honest, Paul's voice is horrible. He puts so much effort to bring out the sound and still its a DRAG. Time to retire and say something about Gordon Brown.
