On Sunday afternoon, the last day of Coachella, Steel Train spent a couple hours just a short walk away from the festival itself at the nearby Lacoste party. The scene was relaxing enough with a landscaped pool, free Lacoste swag, random celebrities like Kristen Stewart walking around and Devendra Banhart working the turntables. The open bar was also nice but the guys in Steel Train barely even noticed.

"Tegan and Sara kinda saved our Coachella a little bit," frontman Jack Antonoff tells Spinner, while holding a gift bag filled with tennis clothes. The two bands recently toured together and, as Antonoff phrases it, they're "real friends."

"They don't like to get f---ed up and we don't like to get f---ed up," he says. "Whenever we go on tour or go to festivals, there's always this weird feeling of being left out that we have because we're not into a lot of the stuff that kind of goes along with what we do. So Tegan and Sara came here to hang out and every time I saw them I felt like I was seeing my family after getting picked up at a sleepover that I didn't want to be at."

That's not to say that Steel Train weren't already having a memorable weekend. After all, it was their first time playing Coachella and they were on the main stage. For those keeping score, that's bigger than the stage that MGMT, Thom Yorke and Phoenix all played on. "Things happen so gradually and they happen for a million reasons, so -- not in a jaded way, but it's very rare that you get to realize dreams in the moment," Antonoff says. "Definitely, playing the main stage at Coachella is one of those things that feels great in the moment." Yeah...no kidding.
