Kate Nash Bored of Playing 'Foundations' Live

Singer-songwriter Kate Nash has admitted that she is fed up with playing her most well known song 'Foundations' live, after fans and critics have noticed its absence from the set lists at her recent UK shows.

Nash, who is set to release a new album, 'My New Best Friend is You' next week, tells Spinner that she is "sometimes" bored by the idea of singing the track which propelled her to stardom, when it reached No. 2 in the singles chart in 2007. "I only play it when I feel like playing it. If I feel I'm just not in the mood, which is a lot of the time. I just don't bother playing it." she adds.

Nash prefers to showcase new tracks like 'Mansion Song' and 'I Hate Seagulls' from the follow up to 'Made of Bricks.' Her influences and sound has notably changed since the debut album. First single 'Do-Wah-Doo' is inspired by the girl groups of the early '60s like the Ronettes and the Supremes.

It's not just pop girl groups either, Nash says she's been paying more attention to the US Riot grrl scene too. She explains "I'm paying more attention to the music that I've always liked. I'm a really big fan of Kathleen Hanna -- one of my favourite bands of all time is Bikini Kill -- I also think Sleater-Kinney are in my top three artists of all time. To prove this, Nash plays guitar more and more, saying "my guitar skills have defintely improved, more in the last month."

Working with ex-Suede member Bernard Butler -- who has previously produced Duffy's album -- Nash says he helped her add "in things like a few reprises, some horns, things like that."

Nash, who gave up touring after promotion for 'Made of Bricks' left her exhausted, is about to embark on a North American tour -- starting in Toronto in Canada on April 26 -- before returning to Europe for a short tour. She is also set to appear at this year's T in the Park festival in Scotland.

Well I know who she is but that is because I actually branch out and listen to new things and not just what the MTV tells me to listen to. Maybe some people out there should try it.

I don't even know who Kate Nash is. But if she really wants to have an impact she might as well sing the song that made her popular in the first place. Never heard " foundations" sounds like a lovely song. Get over your ego and sing Kate.

Hey, Kate Nash - (whoever you are) - don't you realize that your fans are coming to your concerts to hear the hit songs that made them your fans in the first place?? I don't think you're enough of a "household name" yet to start trying out new material, especially when you've only had a couple of hits!

AOL writers need to learn English. You can't be "bored of" something. You can be bored BY, or bored WITH something. It's as annoying as "would of", which is actually would've, but spelled like it sounds because that's easier.

I see why people why musicians get nausous, repeating the same song at every concert. I hate it when they want to play the verse one more time. I just hold my sleeve over my mouth.

Im sorry, but the reason we goto artist's shows are the hit songs. If I'm go to see U2 I wanna hear "In The Name Of Love." I don't care that you're getting tired of singing. That's what we
pay you for. Quit your freaking whining!
