Kate Nash Flounders in Poorly Attended 'Secret Show'

It's been two-and-a-half years since Kate Nash's debut album 'Made of Bricks' hit the top spot and helped its creator to a Brit Award. Back then the diminutive singer-songwriter was the darling of indie pop, but on the evidence of Saturday's show (Mar. 6) interest in Nash may be on the wane and that's even before her second album has arrived. It's hard to say whether her appearance at the Classic Grand was meant to be a secret show or just a low-key warm-up to a larger tour. Whatever it was, word of her visit to Glasgow either didn't get out or fell on disinterested ears as only a couple of hundred punters turned up for her "first live show in nearly two years."
With the former cinema barely half-full and the stage time pushed back, Nash and her four-piece backing band eventually took to the stage and set about unveiling tracks from her new album 'My Best Friend is You.'
What followed was an inconsistent performance which got stranger as the night progressed and culminated with fans voicing their displeasure.
A patronizing rant which started with the words, "Anybody heard of people who hate gay people," her decision to play the same song ('I've Got a Secret') twice and omit 'Foundations' followed by a shambolic finale seemed to leave parts of the crowd somewhat bemused.
But it was when Nash decided to recite a poem, 'Mansion Song,' that things took their weirdest turn. A real car-crash moment, it epitomized a night when the music was inconsequential and the performance memorable for all the wrong reasons.

I second the first comment. Who is Kate Nash? Whatever she did 2 years ago obviously wasn't that impressive either. LOL

Kate Nash is/was actually a pretty good singer. Upbeat tempos, quirky lyrics, great voice. You should give her album Made of Bricks (2007) a listen to. She is English which might be why you havent heard of her, plus she has only had 1 album until now.

Kate Nash is a fairly good singer who believed all the praise she got from friends and promotors, then got shown that she was just "good" and not "great". At least she lived her dream for a while. I don't know who the author of this piece is (Iknow he can't proof read) but I he doesn't have a CD out.

If you remember the old Nash automobile as I do along with the Kaiser and Fraizer and Edsel, you are as old as I am....like old as dirt? LOL

Never heard of her, but from that picture, what's up with the nerdy hairstyle and dress?

Just because you aren't aware of who someone is doesn't mean that the article shouldn't be written. There are more people in this world than you.

Where do you find these random singers? Never heard of her.

She was quite successfully in 2007. She was number 2 in the singles Chart and her album 'Made Of Bricks' got to number 1. She did have 2 other singles in the top 40 aswell. She is one of my favourite artists :) x
