'Kurt and Courtney' Documentary Looks at Life of Late Nirvana Frontman

After Kurt Cobain's suicide in April 1994, BBC documentary director Nick Broomfield and a film crew traveled to the United States in order to delve deeper into the life and death of the Nirvana frontman.

The resulting project, 'Kurt and Courtney,' is an in-depth analysis of Cobain's life from his childhood up until his death. While the crew encountered many obstacles during filming -- namely, funding and obtaining the legal rights to Cobain's music -- the film sheds a new light not only on the rock icon, who was, despite his public persona, painfully shy and uncomfortable with fame, but also on the relationship Cobain had with wife Courtney Love.

Beginning in Seattle, where Cobain was found dead in his home due to a self-inflicted shotgun wound in April, 1994, the crew speaks to numerous individuals from Cobain's childhood, one of them being his aunt who provides home movies of Kurt and recordings of him singing as a child. Kurt's best friend and Courtney Love's father also make appearances in the film.
