From caskets to dolls, Kiss has always taken pride in selling out. Its upcoming Super Bowl commercial for Dr. Pepper, is certainly no exception. The ad will star Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and the rest of the band and air during the second quarter of Sunday's game between the Indianopolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints."The basic premise of this is I'm Dr. Love -- you're not," Simmons told Entertainment Tonight. "Dr. Love is here to make you all feel better, girls."
The commercial stars the tribute band Mini Kiss, founded by longtime Kiss fanatic Joey Fatale in the role of Mini Gene, plugging Dr. Pepper Cherry. "I said this'll be cool -- four little people dressed up as Kiss," Fatale explained of the group's origin. The group's first performance at Studio 54 in Manhattan was well received and now they are commercial stars. Of the tribute troupe, Simmons added, "It's always the sincerest form of flattery."
"Mini Kiss has everything that we have -- perhaps not the same size, but then size isn't important," Simmons cracked. "Yes, it is important, isn't it?"
