Jane's Addiction Reportedly Recording New Songs

Jane's Addiction has reportedly started work on new material. Although it's unclear if the new music will actually result in a new album, the Pulse of Radio, via Blabbermouth, contends that the band entered the studio on Monday.

Responding to a fan's Facebook inquiry about whether the band would in fact write new songs, Stereokill reports frontman Perry Farrell wrote over the weekend, "Monday we get together to write new music and craft a future."

The original Jane's members tried to make things work in the studio early last year before hitting the road for a spring, but things faltered. " I'll be honest with you. We started to record and things got kind of ugly," Farrell later confessed to The Pulse of Radio. "It's one of those things where the headbutting really came out when we tried to write and people were like, 'Well, I don't like that ... ' But you know what? I'm very patient, because it's only been, what, 18 years, so I can't expect things overnight to be perfect."

Fans have speculated if original bassist Eric Avery will be involved in the project. Avery, who reunited with the band in 2008 after 17 years apart, is missing from a recent band photo and he missed out on the band's New Year's Eve show in Aspen, Colo. He is still, however, scheduled to perform with the band on an Australian tour in February.

Bilbo, I can appreciate what you said and I respect your opinion in as far as you saying their songwriting can't keep up with some of the more legendary bands.

As far as what ANYHONY said, NO I am not Canadian and what makes you so angry?
I'm not allowed to like RUSH because you don't?
Music/musicians is/are always highly debated topics.

There are not that many bands out there from the 70's and 80's that are still writing music and putting out albums.
When you look at all that happened to the drummer, Neil Peart over the last decade {Losing his wife and then losing his daughter } for him to even come back and write is amazing to me.

It is so hard to play Neil's drum licks and that is just one reason why I enjoy his music , as far as his writing of the lyrics, a lot of people think they know the lyrics when they really don't.
They're mind blowing, at least for me they are.
They really can not be compared to any other band.
Just in the amount of time they have been playing alone, coming up on 40 years !
3 man band sounding like 5 , they're virtuoso's of their respective instruments, that can never be denied.
Geddy Lee Playing bass /Singing and playing keyboards is rarely seen.
Alex Lifeson playing lead and Rhythm , yupp just one guitarist.
Excuse me for the love of the band I just call it as I hear it and my hearing is not in any way distorted, nor my thinking.

Love Jane's Addiction, hated Perry Farrell's solo crap (i.e., we'll make great pets...). It's a group effort!

"Pets" is not Perry's solo material. That was Porno For Pyros. They couldn't touch Jane's but were a rockin' band in their own right.
