British Sea Power to Launch New Album at UK's Highest Pub

British Sea Power are set to return to the Tan Hill Inn -- Britain's highest pub, clocking in at 1732ft above sea level -- to launch their as-yet-untitled fifth album in May, Spinner can exclusively reveal.

The exact date is yet to be disclosed, but venue manager Ian Anderson says the band have spoken to them to pencil in a date in "May-ish."

The band have previously performed at the remote North Yorkshire Dales venue a few times, launching their five-track EP 'Krankenhaus?' there in November 2007, before returning to host their own three day festival, 'Sing Ye From the Hillsides' in August 2008.

Writing on the BSP blog about the new album, lead guitarist Noble has said, "The album is like our lovely new bride. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue." He also confims that after writing and recording over the last twelve months -- in East Sussex and on the Isle of Skye -- that "we're in the final stages now. Recording is about 95% finished, and mixing will be finished shortly after we get back from touring in Australia."

The follow-up to 2008's Mercury Prize nominated 'Do You Like Rock Music?' has again been mixed and produced by Graham Sutton.

The band also released a their own reworking of the 'Man From Aran' film soundtrack last year and are still performing the album in full at some gigs.

Prior to the new album's release, BSP will headline an NME Shockwaves Awards Show on Feb. 9 at the Scala in London. These New Puritans, Surfer Blood and Sparrow and the Workshop will support.
