Incarcerated music producer Phil Spector -- who is currently serving a 19-year sentence for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson -- is being courted by fellow killer Charles Manson to reportedly help reignite his long-stalled singing career. It appears that the 74-year-old wannabe rocker and murder mastermind is soliciting career guidance from Spector, a fellow inmate at California 's Corcoran state prison."A guard brought Philip a note from Manson, who said he wanted him to come over to his [cell]. He said he considers Phillip the greatest producer who ever lived," Spector's wife, Rachelle, told the New York Post. "It was creepy. Phillip didn't respond."
Spector's publicist Hal Lifson added, "I think Manson wants to glean some musical advice from Phil, who was a '60s music god with his Wall of Sound. But Phil's like, 'I used to pick up the phone and it was John Lennon or Celine Dion or Tina Turner, and now Charles Manson is trying to get a hold of me."
Former cult leader Manson was a failed musician in the 1960s, notably spending time and recording with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys and actress Doris Day's son record producer son Terry Melcher. When Melcher dismissed him, Manson sent members of his "family" to kill the occupants of Melcher's former home, which led to the murder of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski, and four other dinner guests.
