Raveonettes Release Demos Via Twitter

The Internet surely can be a Mecca of negativity, but that's of no concern for the Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner, who announced recently that the band would be releasing demos for their forthcoming album via Twitter. Is he weary of any early feedback? "Not one bit," Wagner tells Spinner. "I think it's cool that people write whatever. Some people love it and some people think it's pathetic. I personally don't care either way, but I'm doing it for the hardcore fans and they appreciate it!"

Among the new songs to be released are 'Last Dance,' 'Boys Who Rape' and 'In and Out Of Control.' While the first one is available for anyone to hear, you'll have to register for their mailing list to get access to the rest. A small price for some sweet tunes.

The currently untitled set is the follow up to 2008's 'Lust Lust Lust' -- a solid collection of fuzzy shoegaze, which many considered a return to form after 2005's 'Pretty In Black,' a more acoustic driven record. So, what's the sound of the new one shaping up to be like? "It's hard to say," Wagner says. "Those demos we posted are pretty accurate to what the sound of the album is gonna be, at least for now; I change my mind everyday."

While most acts keep their demos under wraps until some inevitable B-side material is needed or they leak out, the Raveonettes feel this approach is a bit like going to the movies. "We're giving the fans a chance to catch up with what we're up to instead of keeping everything secret," he says. "It's always inspiring to watch documentaries and such, and this is sort of like a documentation of our recording process."

Fans who are planning on hitting the Village Voice's Siren Festival at Coney Island, Lollapalooza or ACL Festival might get a chance to hear some of the new tunes the old fashion way: live. Until then, the tweets are tops.
